Mission 1: Sustainable development
By 2030, Barbados will lead as a champion of sustainable development, ensuring all domestic activities become 100% sustainable by 2035, setting a global example for climate resilience.
Barbados is on the frontlines of the climate crisis. Rising seas, more frequent storms, and pressure on our natural resources threaten our island and way of life. But these challenges also give us the chance to lead.
This mission is about transforming Barbados into a clean and beautiful large-ocean state by 2030—and making all our domestic activities 100% sustainable by 2035. That means protecting our coasts, switching to renewable energy, reducing waste, and caring for the land and sea that sustain us. It also means showing global leadership in sustainability and resilience.
This mission is not just about the environment—it’s about how we live, how we grow, and how we protect the Barbados we love for future generations.
Mission 2: Citizen empowerment
By 2030, every Barbadian will feel empowered and engaged in shaping the nation’s social, economic, and cultural development—becoming confident, creative, compassionate, and entrepreneurial citizens.
Too often, people feel left out of national decisions or disconnected from the changes around them. This mission is about changing that.
By 2030, Barbados will become a country of active, involved citizens—where everyone feels confident, creative, and capable of shaping the future.
That means investing in civic education, community leadership, youth programmes, and the arts. It means bringing more voices to the table—especially those who are often unheard. It also means giving Bajans the tools to solve problems in their own communities and take pride in building up their country.
A strong society is one where people feel they belong and can make a difference. This mission is about unlocking that sense of purpose and participation in every parish, every school, and every neighborhood.
Mission 3: Food and water security
By 2030, all Barbadians will have access to clean water and nutritious food that are affordable and sustainable, securing national food and water security.
Barbados imports most of its food and faces frequent droughts. Many families struggle to access healthy food and reliable water. This mission tackles those challenges head-on.
By 2030, every Barbadian should have equitable and reliable access to clean water and nutritious, affordable food.
That means investing in local agriculture, smart water management, and stronger food systems—from farm to table. It also means preparing for the impacts of climate change and ensuring no one is left behind. This mission supports health, resilience, and independence.
It’s about growing more of what we eat, protecting our natural water sources, and making sure that every household—from St. Lucy to Christ Church—has what it needs to thrive.
Mission 4: Public health and safety
By 2030, Barbados will improve public health and safety, leading to a 50% reduction in new cases of non-communicable diseases and a 50% reduction in crime, ensuring a healthier and safer society.
Barbados is seeing rising rates of non-communicable diseases like diabetes and hypertension, and communities are concerned about crime and safety. This mission is about turning those trends around.
By 2030, we aim to reduce new cases of non-communicable diseases and crime by 50%.
That means promoting active lifestyles, improving access to mental and physical healthcare, and investing in preventative measures. It also means addressing the root causes of violence and building safer, more supportive communities. Health and safety are the foundations of a happy, productive society.
This mission is about helping every Barbadian live a longer, healthier, and more secure life—at home, at school, and in public spaces.
Mission 5: Worker empowerment
By 2030, Barbados will empower and enfranchise all workers and families, creating opportunities for ownership, wealth creation, and poverty reduction by 50%, ensuring greater self-sufficiency and economic security.
Many workers in Barbados face low wages, job insecurity, and limited chances to build wealth. Too many families are just getting by. This mission is about changing that by creating real opportunities for ownership, skills development, and long-term financial security.
By 2030, we aim to reduce the rate of poverty by 50% and empower all Barbadian workers and families.
That means supporting small businesses, expanding training, and encouraging co-operatives and shared ownership models. It’s also about ensuring dignity and fairness in the workplace.
This mission is not just about income—it’s about giving people a real stake in the future and building a Barbados where everyone can do well and take care of each other.
Mission 6: Digital transformation
By 2030, Barbados will be a fully digital and resilient society, where all citizens have seamless access to essential services and the benefits of technological advancement.
Too many people in Barbados still struggle to access online services, digital tools, or fast, reliable internet. At the same time, government services can be slow, disconnected, or hard to use. This mission is about fixing both problems.
By 2030, we aim to create a high-functioning, resilient society with seamless access to services and meaningful digital inclusion for all Barbadians.
That means modernizing government systems, expanding internet access, and making sure every citizen can participate fully in the digital world—regardless of age, income, or location.
This mission isn’t just about technology. It’s about making life easier, faster, and fairer for everyone—from applying for a license to starting a business to getting support when you need it.
